Staying at Mokkoan was an incredible experience! My Japanese-Style Room Garden View 103 was cozy and humble, with double doors opening into the lovely garden. The warm hospitality from the owners made my stay truly special. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the delicious homemade orange marmalade that paired perfectly with the meal!

The couple running this place went above and beyond, even picking us up at the station. Our traditional Japanese room opened into a stunning garden, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast was a delight, especially the homemade orange marmalade! I wish we had stayed longer—it truly felt like a home away from home.

Returning from Akabane station felt unnecessarily far after a long day of exploring. The 15-minute walk seemed manageable at first, but by the end of the day, it felt exhausting. The hills were steeper than they appeared on the map, making the trek back a disappointment rather than a pleasant stroll.

And the '15-minute walk' to Akabane station should come with a warning. it felt like a marathon after a long day! I thought a complimentary tea upon arrival would have been nice too, but, guess I'm just dreaming.

The room was super cozy and had this lovely traditional Japanese decor. Plus, the garden view was really nice and peaceful. It felt clean and serene, which made it a great spot to relax. One small downside was that the shower towels were a bit on the smaller side, but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, it really felt like a genuine Japanese experience!

We loved our stay! The location is perfect for families, being just a short train ride away from Sunshine Aquarium. The garden view room was serene, and the hosts provided warm hospitality that made us feel at home, especially with our little kid in tow.

In my wife’s opinion, more family-friendly activities would be great.
